AGRICON
INTRODUCTORY INFO : AGRICON
According to the survey, India’s agriculture sector grew at a high rate, averaging 5% annually between 2016–17 and 2022–23. The Gross Value Added (GVA) of agriculture and related sectors have improved from 24.38% in 2014-15 to 30.23% in 2022-23. High-value sectors such as horticulture, livestock, and fisheries have emerged as the primary contributors to the overall growth of agriculture.
Even though, problems like climate change, water scarcity, absence of proper professional knowledge service providers, natural calamity etc. are the major barriers that need to be addressed with targeted concentrations and interventions. Professional Management Agencies can increase the profitability of this industry by identifying zone wise new or alternative crop breeds that are technically feasible but commercially viable, extending low-cost scientific cultivation practices using modern technologies and creating value chain units.
Agriculture is the mainstay of the people of our country. It is not only a noble profession that helps to feed so many, but also it can be exceptionally lucrative.
At agriCon, we believe that we have the potential to improve this situation that the Agricultural and Allied Sector offers us and we believe that we also have the desired potential for the betterment of this situation.
We believe, agriculture does not mean just growing of crops, rather agriculture is an industry that resembles a business avenue. Subsequently in 2002, we established the first of its kind institute for farm entrepreneurs under the banner – IFMED (Institute of Farm Management Entrepreneurship Development).
Today, when profitability of Agriculture demands the involvement of experts of different disciplines, following our long experience and observation, we have found that, in this subcontinent, most of the consultants are academic with a limited technical knowledge in growing of crops only instead of having experience in applied knowledge and expertise in marketing and market research, man management, business management and other relevant fields. Either they are retired professors from different agri universities or scientists of different agricultural research institutes. Some companies have been established and started working since last few years and mostly run by some ex-academic experts or academically qualified persons.
Going beyond this trend, we believe in team work and designed our services in a different way to provide 360 degree angle support to the changing demand of this sector. Due to the effect of globalization, taste of people, demand of market and industry sectors have been changed. Demand of new crops has emerged, besides many opportunities have flourished for both domestic and international markets in growing high value crops, establishing value chain units, value addition units like processing, extraction etc, logistics, warehousing, packaging, tourism, services and many more. India is still far behind from some other countries like China, Philippines, Vietnam in this race to utilise the benefits arising out of opportunities of globalization.
We emphasize on customized planning which should be made in such a way so that market would come to the entrepreneur to give them premium prices against their off season or premium variety of crops instead of entrepreneur goes to the competitive market for selling their commodity. From our long experience we have also realized that good crop production alone is insufficient for generating profits. Entrepreneurs should be equipped with correct and customized business plan which is to be made only through techno-commercial studies, they should have support from rich data bank, information on latest breeds, access to genuine planting materials, innovation, collaboration with agricultural and agri business specialists, Mentoring and Incubation support and many more akin to this domain.
Accordingly, we have carefully designed our products and services that can help entrepreneurs, enterprises and government for the betterment of their mission and to help people to change their perspective and look at agriculture with a different outlook. Now, agriCon has become a role model in agro based consultancy sector in this Indian subcontinent and to the developing world too.
